The communities that lie along U. S. highway 70 after it has crossed the North River Bridge, as well as those located farther off the beaten path, share a common heritage. Originally closely tied to the water, many of us now commute to jobs "over the bridge" while maintaining close contact with the water and wetlands that surround us. Commercial fishing, crabbing and boat building are all still practiced here and will be, we hope, for a long time to come.
